U15 v Stamford/Kimbolton

Result: Kimbolton: Lost 14-8, Stamford: Won 10-6

Review: The U15 C Netball team played their best netball of the season on Saturday. Their passing was fast passed and accurate, and the match was a joy to watch. At the end of the second third, the score was very tight at 6-6. Sophia Arthen and Tabby Temporal used clever strategies to make space in the D despite some expert defending from Kimbolton.
Milly Scarborough played amazingly well, as she continued to make defensive interceptions throughout the game. She never dropped the ball and reversed the direction of play several times. She won the well deserved lady of the match. Unfortunately, in the final third, we lost our stamina and Kimbolton managed to pull ahead to win 14-8.
Nevertheless, the girls played some excellent netball and should be very proud of their teamwork and obvious improvement since the beginning of the season.

The second match of the day was against Stamford. Annabelle Persie came on as WA and immediately made her presence felt by using the space and getting the ball into the D very quickly. The play improved and the teams seemed to be evenly matched. Ellie Welsh was everywhere as centre and played a pivotal role in the success of the match. By the end of the first half, the score was 4-3 to Felsted. Felsted managed to keep fighting despite some excellent attacking play from Stamford. Genevieve Guest was an excellent Goal Keeper and prevented several shots from going in. The girls were determined to win, and they did, with a final score of 10-6. The winning drive was evident in the fast-paced play and teamwork. A well deserved win!

U14 v Kimbolton/Stamford

U14 A V Kimbolton/Stamford
Result: Felsted v Kimbolton: Won 15-9, Felsted v Stamford: Won 22-8
Match report: A bright spring day saw Felsted involved in a triangular fixture.  Their first match against Kimbolton was very evenly matched in the first third, with Kimbolton slightly edging ahead to be 6-4 in front after the first 10 minutes.  However, Felsted have learnt to keep battling on and came out fighting in the second third.  Excellent defending from Molly McGuckian, Rachael Freedman and Sophie Cuthbert meant that Kimbolton were only allowed to add one more to their score, whilst shooters Tabby Carey and Caitlin Perrie added 6 to Felsted’s total, bringing them to 10-7 at the end of the second third.

Excellent support from the centre court players, Immy Flynn, Bea Stone and Jemima Upton, meant that Felsted held onto their lead in the final third, finishing 15-9 in front.  Special mention goes to captain Jemima Upton for excellent defensive and attacking play, making sure that the ball was worked smoothly up the court.

After a match break Felsted were back on court to play Stamford.  Buoyed by their earlier win, Felsted came out all guns blazing.  The goals kept on coming with shooter Tabby Carey on excellent form, and Goal Attack Caitlin Perrie ably supporting her in the attacking circle.  Solid work from the rest of the team, with some excellent passing and smooth movement of the ball, meant that Stamford could not keep up and Felsted were ahead 13-3 at the end of the first half.
The second half saw more of the same for Felsted.  All their hard work paid off with a final score of 22-8 to Felsted.

Felsted showed how their hard work during training is paying off with some excellent netball in both matches today.  This was recognised by the opposition coaches who commented on the high level of play by Felsted.  Today’s victories were a real team effort and Felsted should be extremely proud of their achievements.
Star Player: Jemima Upton & Tabby Carey

U14 B V Kimbolton/Stamford
Result: Felsted v Kimbolton: Lost 15-10, Felsted v Stamford: Won 10-6
Match report: On Saturday the 25th of February, the Under 14 B girls approached the three way tournament against Stamford and Kimbolton on home turf with a sense of determination. The sun was shining and the girls were enjoying their warm up in the sun. After a tricky first quarter, the girls realised that Kimbolton were putting them through their paces and would have to work extra hard to gain possession on pitch. We lost narrowly in the final quarter 15 - 10. After a 30 minute gap and recharge the girls came on court fighting to beat Stamford and the first half of the game saw Stamford slightly ahead. After a motivational talk from RLS and the captain, Annie Martine, the girls fought their way to a 10 - 6 victory; I couldn't have been more proud of the way that we turned it around. Man of the match was awarded to Hattie against Kimbolton for aggressive play and Faye against Stamford for focused shooting. Rewarded with cake and tea post match = bliss!

U14 C V Kimbolton
Result: Won 16-4
Match report: A tight match which was strongly fought on each side. Felsted were ahead by three goals to one by the end of the first third and the goal scoring partnership of Katie Cload and Georgia Willson continued to work well throughout the match. It was a very fast-moving game and Kimbolton had an excellent centre and wing defence that really kept our girls busy. Their goal attack and goal shoot were also strong, but new goal-keeper Faye Calow and Sophia managed to keep them at bay, despite Kimbolton’s four goals in the final quarter. Fairly nail-biting finish to the match, but Felsted put in yet another excellent performance to win.

1st VII v Kimbolton/Stamford

Result: L 20-11 (Kimbolton)
Review: On Saturday the 1st team played Kimbolten as part of the triangular tournament including Stamford. We got off to a good start however; the Kimbolton team pulled ahead and despite trying hard Felsted were unable to secure a win. However, in the last two quarters we did improve significantly and the match could have become quite close. The Kimbolton team were one of the strongest sides we have played this season and we did have some excellent performances in the match with Georgia Long being our team’s man of the match. The 1st team had a tough weekend and look forward to the upcoming fixtures.
Star Player: Georgia Long

Result: Drew 19-19 (Stamford)
Review: The match was very evenly matched throughout the whole game and both teams were ahead at stages. The first quarter ended with Stamford ahead by one goal, the second Felsted ahead by one etc….Excellent defending by Gerogia Long and Meg Powell in the third quarter resulted in the ball being turned over frequently and Felsted took the lead by two goals, with some fantastic shooting by Deanne and Tamara Evans. Unfortunately we just couldn’t keep this lead and in the final quarter Stamford came back determined to score and pull it back. Felsted’s shooters were under pressure and although they shot accurately, it was more difficult in this third for the ball to be thread through to them. This game could have easily gone either way but, on the day Felsted just lacked that little bit of luck and ended with a draw.

2nd VII v Kimbolton/Stamford

Result: L 20-11 (Kimbolton)
Result: L 30-4 (Stamford)
Match report: On Saturday the 25th the second's faced a tough two matches against two very strong sides. First we played Stamford who we knew from previous matches put out very good teams. The team we played were in fact their U16A side who are through to the national finals, this team played with extreme precision and flow and were actually impressive to play against, demonstrating some great netball. This however didn't get us down but made us evermore determined to put up a fight, which we did. With some great defensive skills from Hannah C-W and quick mid-court game from Charlotte Volf we managed to hold our game but unfortunately loosing. The next match of the triangular tournament was against Kimbolton, a well known competitive school in sporting areas. Throughout the first half the game was tight with scores changing and both teams having the upper hand, with Hayley Young's shooting skills the goals were flying in and the spirit was up. With one and a half matches played we began to become tired and gradually lost the game; this did not put our spirits down, we fought till the whistle blew, but again unfortunately came short. Well done to all girls, two really strong teams but all played really well.

U14 v Chigwell

U14 B v Chigwell
Result: Won 8-1
Match report: On Tuesday, we played Chigwell away and we were victorious with a win of 8-1. The woman of the match was awarded to two star players: Lara Stratton and Annie Martine - well done to all the girls in the B squad for a successful start to the second half of the season!
Star Player: Lara Stratton and Annie Martine

U14 A v Chigwell
Result: Won 18-6
Match report: Refreshed from their half term break, Felsted U14A team came out fighting in their first match back.  They dominated throughout the whole match against a lacklustre Chigwell side.
Felsted’s centre court play was superb with them only struggling to get the ball into the attacking circle on occasion.  This excellent play was supported by top defending from Rachael Freedman, Sophie Cuthbert, Jemima Upton and Molly McGuckian.
Special mention goes to Jemima Upton who, on return to the ‘A’ team played superbly in both defensive and attacking roles.
Now Felsted are working better together as a team we can look to dominate in our upcoming matches.
Star Player: Jemima Upton

U14 v Haileybury

U14 A
Result: Won 20-12
Match report: After a week of hard work during training Felsted put in an excellent performance against Haileybury to return to winning form.  Felsted started strongly, putting into practice the skills they had learnt during the week.  The passing and dodging was much improved this week and showed in the strong attacking drives down the court.  Felsted's defence were excellent throughout the match, making impressive interceptions and frustrating the Haileybury attack.

An ankle injury to the Haileybury Goal Shooter saw them need to make a substitution, but even with this upset they continued to battle hard and pulled closer in the second and third quarters.  However, Felsted kept their cool and continued to fight hard, pulling away further in the last quarter.

It was a skilful and well driven performance from Felsted, one that we will hope to continue to build upon over the coming weeks.
Star Player: Sophie Cuthbert

U14 B
Result: Won 17-3
Match report: With the prospect of a snowy weekend, the U14 B girls wrapped up warmly for their home match this Saturday. After welcoming opposition, we scored 5 goals in the first quarter and set the tone for the match through effective communication and movement drills employed in practices showing their use in match situations. Our captain, Ellie Barham, led the girls through the team chats and in the final quarter we pulled in a good 8 goals and felt the victory of a win on home turf.

Man of the Match must go to Hattie Botwright who provides the back bone of the squad in the centre third and always carries the team through! A good win to have under our belts - well done ladies!

U15 C/B v Haileybury

Result: U15 C  Won 20-5

Match report: On Saturday Felsted U15 C team had their first win of the season.
The centre play was good and Tabby Temporal was solid as Goal Attack, always making use of the space and scoring the majority of her shots. With some good coaching from Ellie Welsh the team managed to keep in front despite Haileybury fighting back valiantly.  Emma Sweeney played a key role in keeping them from scoring goals as GK. She never let the shooter have a second chance because she seized the ball so fast. Millie Scarborough also played excellently as Wing Defence, intercepting several of their centre passes and marking her attacker to such an extent that she began to lose heart. Because of her pivotal play, Millie won player of the match. The Felsted girls worked more and more as a team, and this culminated in a win of 20-5, the goals all scored by Tabby Temporal and Eloise Kingsland.

Star Player: Millie Scarborough

Result: U15 B  Won 21-13

Review: The U15B team played Haileybury and won their first match 21-13. The whole team excelled, playing really well but special mention to Jasmine Moore and Tabby Kendrick working well together in the defence.
