U14 C v Woodbridge

Result: Won 14-6
Match report: A final win for the C team! A relatively slow start to the match saw Felsted winning 2-1 in the first quarter, but in the second quarter Georgia and Izzy did a great job, scoring six between them. By half time, the score was 8-2 and we were looking comfortable. The scoring continued in the third quarter and Felsted lead 12-2 at the start of the final fourth. Woodbridge then had a late surge, scoring four goals and showing great determination. Luckily for Felsted, we had too strong a lead for them to catch up: Georgia also scored two more to make the score a pleasing 14-6. Some great play from all of the girls today. Ellen and Chloe deserve special mention for stepping up and putting in some crucial interceptions and Taylor showed good leadership as captain for the final match.

U14 v Bishop's Stortford College

Result: Lost 11-20
Match report: Another loss for the U14Cs, which is a shame with such a successful season behind us! However, the girls all played well and tried their best. BSC were ahead from the first quarter where the score was 5-1 to them. We really struggled to get the ball in to the D and even when we did, BSC had an excellent GK/GD who was extremely tall and thwarted the valiant efforts of Georgia Willson, Katie Cload and later, Izzy Wiggins. At half time we made a few changes which improved the flow of the game, returning Taylor to her favoured WA position and bringing on Chloe Payne as centre. She hasn’t played this season but did an excellent job. Overall a disappointing score but still the girls should be proud that they played with their usual goodwill and put a great deal of effort in: this time BSC were just the stronger team.

U14 v The Leys

U14 A
Result: Won 19-15
Match report:
Buoyed from their excellent third position in an U15 tournament earlier in the week, Felsted U14 A got off to an excellent start against The Leys.  They stormed ahead to an 11-3 lead at half time, with excellent defence from Sophie Cuthbert and Rachael Freedman.  Once the shooters got their eye in there was some superb shooting from both Caitlin Perrie and Tabby Carey.
The Leys made a comeback in the last quarter of the match, pulling closer and closer to Felsted’s score.  However, Felsted held strong and were rewarded with a 19-15 victory.
Star Player: Rachael Freedman

U14 B
Result: Won 22-10
Match report: On a wet and windy Saturday afternoon, the girls trooped out on court to play The Leys. After some quick warm up drills, we dominated play and kept a solid lead throughout each quarter (with the obligatory jelly babies making an appearance). After some slippery footwork, we clawed our way up to a 22 - 10 victory! Player of the match goes to Anastacia May for her performance as GK! Keep up the good work for the last 2 matches ladies.
Star Player: Anastacia May

U14 C
Result: Lost 11-20
Match report: A disappointing result today but The Leys played a very strong team and Felsted fought very hard. After the first quarter Felsted were ahead 5-4 but the Leys had an excellent second quarter and the half ended at 11-5 to the away team. After the break however, Felsted really fought back and Mary Cole did some excellent defending, blocking several shots and making key interceptions. Brittany Cowell and Natalie Morgan switched positions in the second half which really paid off with Brittany scoring several goals in the third and fourth quarter and Natalie pairing up with Mary. Unfortunately the Leys were far too strong, with excellent special awareness and a very tall goalkeeper who made it difficult for Georgia and Brittany. Well done to all the girls, Sophie did very well as captain and showed good leadership. They can learn a lot from today for the last two matches of the season next week!

U15 C v The Leys

Result: Won 20-12
Review: The U15 C netball team had a convincing win against the Leys. Some of the best teamwork this season was on display, with Annabel Percy playing a key role as centre. The girls took a while to warm up and settle into their positions. Ellen Welsh surprised herself by playing Goal Attack in the first quarter and scoring two goals. Her grasp of the ball was good and she positioned herself well beside the net. Sophia Arthen worked well with her to score another six goals so that after 10 minutes, we were winning 8-1. In the second quarter, the Leys began to fight back but Franca Lienke was everywhere as GD, intercepting their passes and moving the ball out of their D. She should be commended for playing this standard of netball after only seven weeks in the sport. At half time, we were comfortably ahead 11-4. A slight change of defence at half time increased our lead because Georgia Rowe and Genvieve Guest made an impressive pairing in the circle. They exploited free passes and didn't let The Leys get many chances at the net. As the final quarter ran in, our girls fought through the tiredness and kept the passes swift and short. Millie Scarborough played excellently as always at WD and together with Jizi Wu in WA moved the ball up the court to our net. Their jumping to catch the ball meant that the Leys lost a few chances and their spatial awareness contributed to the commendable win, 20-12. The girls have really improved this season and their marking today was so good that they really deserved this win.

U15 C v Culford

Result: Won 25-15
Review: The U15C netball team had a successful day at Culford, with their biggest win of the season. The team, captained by Genevieve Guest, began the attack well in the first quarter as they made a break a few minutes into the match. The spatial awareness of the girls meant that the ball kept getting into the D and the shooting of Eloise Kingland and Sophia Arthen improved to the extent that we were 7-4 up. In the second quarter Jizi Wu and Millie Scarborough made an excellent pairing in the centre third which meant that Culford often had the ball snatched away from them. Sophia Arthen used her height to advantage, and by half time, we were winning 15-6. Culford came back more strongly in the second half and began to catch up. Their passing was swift and they scored seven goals in quick succession. Felsted responded to the challenge and managed to regain their attacking focus. Genevieve played well as GK and succeeded in making several defensive interceptions. Anabelle Percy used her speed to move the ball quickly into our D and by the end of the match, we had won 25-15. All the girls played well and the teamwork improved throughout. Special mention should go to Jizi Wu who used the space excellently and was a key player in moving the ball into the goal third.
Star Player: Jizi Wu

U14 v Culford

U14 A
Result: Lost 19-18
Match report: A busy week of fixtures ended with Felsted travelling to take on Culford.  An organised Culford team came out strongly and caught Felsted off guard, racing to an 8-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Felsted, however, showed their grit and determination pulling back to within 2 goals and the end of the first half.  Shooters Tabby Carey and Caitlin Perrie found their stride and some excellent defence lead by Goal Defence Sophie Cuthbert meant that even Culfords’ talented attack struggled.
At the end of the third quarter Felsted were one goal ahead, leading to an incredibly tense final quarter.  Felsted maintained their one goal lead, however, in the dying minutes Culford pulled level and just before the final whistle managed to score the winning goal. Felsted should be proud of the way they battled back in an incredibly competitive game.  We will work on coming out strong in the first quarter so playing catch up isn’t needed!
Star Player: Sophie Cuthbert

U14 B
Result: Won 27-12

Match report: On Saturday the 10th, the under 14 B team played Culford away. We started off strong in the first quarter. We defended well and we attacked viciously and this continued through the whole match. The end score was 27-12.
Star Player: Izzy George and Immy Hewing-Powell

 U14 C
Result: Won 10-13
Match report: Another win for the U14C team, despite major changes. It was a tight match, with Felsted ahead by just two goals after the first quarter. Culford had a very quick GA and a skilled centre who caused us a few problems throughout the match. However, captain Faye Calow and centre, Anna Rachmann, did extremely well to get the better of them most of the time, especially as Anna has only started playing the sport this year! Sarah Walsh and Natalie Morgan also deserve special mention for their first match of the season and it was a real shame that Sarah hurt her ankle towards the end of the third quarter, having played very well. Natalie teamed up nicely with Izzy Wiggins, scoring several of Felsted’s 13 goals. Culford nearly went level at 11-10, but Felsted quickly pulled two goals back, and the match finished after the third quarter because of Sarah’s injury. Well done to all and get well soon to Sarah!
Star Player: Anna Rachmann

2nd VII v Culford

Result:Lost 20-13

Review: On Saturday the 10th the 2nd VII  played a tough match against Culford. Playing at our own home courts it gave us an automatic boost in confidence when warming up.
The defence triangle of our team proved strong with Gk Hannah C-W having an outstanding game. The mid court found spaces and moved quickly with Charlotte Volf gaining player of the match and Alice Schnideau playing some beautiful feeds into the circle allowing some clean shots to be made by Hayley Young. We lost the game by 2, But all in all a really strong performance from all the girls who played, now to hopefully beat The Leys this Saturday.

Star Player: Charlotte Volf

U14 v St Edmunds

Result: Won 28-1
Match report: The second match of the week for Felsted saw them take on St Edmunds at home. Despite showing some feisty play, St Edmunds were no match for the in form Felsted team. Felsted showed excellent skill working the ball down the court, and were always one step ahead. Outstanding defence from Rachael Freedman and Sophie Cuthbert meant that St Edmunds were only allowed to score once in the whole match.
Felsted really showed how well they can work as a team and reaped the rewards by achieving a 28-1 victory.  Hopefully they can make it a hat-trick of wins this week when they play Culford on Saturday.
Star Player: Rachael Freedman

U14 v St Marys

Result: Won 10-6

Match report: Today’s match got off to a messy start, with both teams struggling to find players on their own team with their passes!  Felsted started the match far too quickly, which led to sloppy passes and throwing away any advantage they had. A very tall GK for St Marys also saw the Felsted shooters struggle to perform to their usual standard, leading to a 4-4 draw at half time.
Luckily Felsted always seem to improve in the second half/quarter and started to pull away, with improved passing and some excellent interceptions from Molly McGuckian, Jemima Upton, Sophie Cuthbert and Rachael Freedman.  Excellent passing and linking work from Molly meant that the ball travelled more smoothly into the attacking third.  Felsted were able to capitalise on this and pull ahead to finish with a 10-6 victory.
This ended up being a good start to a busy week of fixtures for Felsted!

Star Player: Molly McGuckian
Result: Won 12-4
Match report: With the sun out and the feel of Spring in the air, the girls warmed up in preparation for the Tuesday match with smiles. Splitting the games into halves meant that the girls had to work hard in the first 15 mins but we were possessive on court and took the first half 7 - 0. In the second half, St Mary's came back fighting but we managed to hold down our victory with some brilliant shooting and a final score of 12 - 4.
Captained by Hattie Botwright, who led the team admirably and with Sophia Butler nominated as Man of the Match, another impressive win under our belts.
Star Player: Sophia Butler

1st VII v St Edmund's School

Result: Won 48-20

Review: On Tuesday 6th March the 1st VII played St Edmund’s school. At the start of the match, the scores were close however, Felsted soon started to lead after a number of turnovers from the centre pass. At first, our play was a little out of control however this quickly changed as we started to work properly as a team even with two new players (Hattie Holmes and Charlotte Volf) and made a great number of interceptions, the hard worked played of as we finished with a  48-20 win. Shooters Tamara and Deanne Evans shot accurately and Alex Burton continues to work hard on defence.

Star Player: Megan Powell

U15 v St.Mary's

Result: Won 22-14

Review: The U15 B team played st.Mary's Colchester and won 22-14! Gemma Foley was awarded woman of the match closely followed by Tabby Kendrick and Katie Lewis playing extremely well.
Star Player: Gemma Foley

2nd VII v St Mary's

Result: Won 30-17
Review: The girls played effectively throughout the match. After an excellent first quarter with dedicated defence and fantastic shooting, Felsted were winning 10-5. They continued in a focused manner, setting targets for each quarter until a comprehensive 30-17 win was achieved.
Star Player: Hayley Young

3rd VII v St Edmunds

Result: Won 33-11
Review: The third team played excellently in this game and worked very well together. The shooters, Eliz Peck and Pip Keir, were on top form and were able to score at any position with ease. The defence made a lot of interceptions and were able to create a lot of opportunities for the middle court players to feed into the shooter to score goals. Rebeka Geczi and Lulu Jerram played very well in the centre court but Eliz Peck got 'woman of the match' for excellent shooting and over all play.
Star Player:  Eliz Peck

1st VII v The Perse

Result: Lost 23-39

Review: On Saturday 3rd March the 1st VII took on 'The Perse School' in which we encountered some tough opposition and despite an excellent effort from all the players, including Hattie Holmes and Mollie Stonham, who were playing in the first team for the first time, we were not able to secure a win. With a couple of injuries and people not able to play we had a different team to usual but it was an exciting and fast paced game with all the girls playing tactically well and everyone remaining determined. Alex Burton's defensive work was excellent and Megan Powell gained player of the match for this fixture but the whole team put in a great effort, it was a bit clumsy to start with but the 1st VII are becoming a very strong side.

Star Player: Megan Powell

U15 A v The Perse

Result: Lost 31-8

Match report: During the first quarter the Felsted side moved the ball swiftly through the court with some great feeds into the circle from Olivia Schwier and Izzy Moore. However, unfortunately, The Perse quickly warmed up and they became hard to overcome. They had a fantastic GA, who we later found out had just been selected for the England U17 side at just 14 years of age! She was exceptional; our defence consisting of Emily O'Connor and Annabel Dines, worked extremely hard until the final whistle, but they were just unable to stop this side attacking the circle and shooting from every angle. In terms of experience, it was great for Felsted to be stretched against such a side and I hope that they came away inspired by what they saw and excited about how they can progress as a team.

Star Player: Olivia Schweir

U14 A/B v The Perse

U14 A
Result: Won 18-11
Match report: An altered team line-up saw Felsted get off to a slow start against The Perse.  The first quarter was very quiet and saw The Perse lead 5-4 by the end.  After a quick team talk, Felsted came back out buoyed and started to play a more lively game.  Some excellent defensive from Sophie Cuthbert and Molly McGuckian (who was standing in as goal keeper and played extremely well) meant that The Perse were only allowed to score 6 goals over the next three quarters.  After a nervous start, Harriet Lathwell, who had stepped up from the B team for this match, made some outstanding interceptions and supported the play down the court excellently.
Felsted kept up their attacking form and continued to score steadily, seeing them end with an 18-11 victory.  This should keep their confidence high for the busy week of fixtures coming up.
Star Player: Harriet Lathwell

U14 B
Result: Won 8-2
Match report: On Saturday March 3rd , The U14 B team played The Perse School in an exciting game of netball. Georgia Willson, Isla Cuthbert and Anastasia May all played exceptionally well and with great enthusiasm .
We had great encouragement from the side-lines, where Fey Ayodeji gave golden expertise! All played fantastically well leading to an 8-2 win.

3rd VII v The Perse

Result: Lost 25-16

Review: The third team started off their game very well against The Perse. The girls played well together and Isabel Woodford and Alice O'Connor made some excellent interceptions.
However, in the third quarter The Perse made a charge and the Felsted girls fell behind in the score and, even with the girl's best effort, were not able to bring the score back.
